Tips for Helping Your Pet Feel at Home in Your New Apartment

You have found your dream apartment and are ready to move. Moving can be an exciting time for everyone, including your pets; however, the excitement is sometimes accompanied by stress. The most significant portion of our stress comes from worrying about how our fur babies will handle the move. Make your move as stress-free as possible for yourself by ensuring you help your pet feel at home in your new apartment.

Prepare the Apartment for Your Pet

Apartment living can be difficult for pets, especially when they have to move into a new place. To help ease your pet into your new apartment home:

Stick to a Routine

It would help if you tried to stick with the same routine for you and your furbaby as you did in your last residence. Keeping to a similar routine helps your pet relax and feel like they are at home. For example, try to keep their food and water bowls in a similar spot as in your old place, and feed and walk your dog at the same time daily. 

Go for a Walk

Take your dog for a quick walk around the apartments and the neighborhood to get familiar with the area. First, of course, your pet must become familiar with the community, plus they will enjoy getting out, seeing new things, smelling new smells, hearing new sounds, and making new friends. 

Provide Some Extra Love

When moving a pet into a new apartment, you want to make sure to give them some extra love and attention. Spend several minutes throughout your day paying attention to your pet and showing it is still loved and is welcome in the new apartment home. The extra attention you spend now will help ease your pet’s anxiety and help them settle into the home much faster.
